Your eligibility to salary package the Meal Entertainment Card will depend on:
- Your employer’s industry sector (only Rebatable, Public Health and Charitable employers
are eligible);
- Your employer’s salary packaging policy;
- Your personal financial circumstances.
Expenses that can be packaged as eligible Meal Entertainment expenses on the Meal
Entertainment Card include:
- Meals only purchased when dining in at the venue. Items claimed must be ‘meals’
and cannot be simple sustenance items (eg. light snacks).
- Beverages purchased with meals when dining in at the venue. You must also be claiming
the meal component to substantiate claiming any beverages purchased. The meal and
beverage components must be clearly identified on the itemised invoice.
- Professional catering meal expenses for special occasions. These may include weddings,
birthday parties, and alike. Claimable catering expenses relate to the meal and
beverage components only and must be provided by a professional catering company.
Other expenses for professionally catered occasions, such as venue hire and equipment
costs, cannot be salary packaged as meal entertainment.
- Dining in at a venue that provides a take away service. This is only claimable where
meals are consumed on the premises as a ‘dine in’ meal.
Meal Entertainment does not contribute towards any Concession Cap limits, therefore
you can package as much of your salary towards this fringe benefit as you like,
in accordance with your FBT status and your employer’s Salary Packaging
Policy.
The savings and advantages you can achieve through salary packaging the Meal Entertainment
Card will vary according to your employer’s FBT status, and your personal financial
circumstances.

Meal Entertainment does not contribute to your FBT Concession
Cap when packaged, so even if you have already utilised your whole Cap on other
fringe benefits, you may still achieve significant increased tax savings by packaging
Meal Entertainment in addition to your existing packaged fringe benefits.

There are currently no fees charged by ANZ for provision of the
Southgate Meal Entertainment Card (including monthly, annual, account
keeping, or transaction fees or interest charges). Should ANZ change these fees,
you will be notified with a minimum 14 days notice. You should refer to your employer’s
Salary Packaging Handbook for Employees to confirm any
other fees that may apply to the provision of the Meal Entertainment

Any unspent funds each paycycle will accrue towards your Meal Entertainment Card
for future use, as and when you use the card for eligible meal entertainment expenses.
At the end of each FBT Year (31st March) any remaining funds in your card account
are rolled over for use in the following FBT Year. Where any funds are rolled over
into the new FBT Year, your regular salary deductions towards the
Meal Entertainment Card will continue at the usual deduction amount.
You must collect and retain an itemised invoice and receipt for every purchase made
on your Meal Entertainment Card, as these may be requested from time to time for
audit and compliance purposes.
